The great boss Loa spirit of the dead and most notorious of all the Haitian Voodou Pantheon.

He loves to trance the night away especially on a Saturday hence his title Baron Samedi (Baron Saturday), presumably after stoking up on his preferred placatives of tobacco and rum. Very bad things happen if he doesn't receive a regular supply of these offerings.

He is often spotted on the graveyard shift as his alter-ego Baron Cemetiere smoking a cigar with black top hat and tails adorning his skeletal frame, and as Baron la Croix standing at the crossroads of this world and Guinee acting all Ghede-like.

Samedi is married to the equally tough talking Maman Brigitte and has been known to get all heavy as Baron criminel if you don't pay your dues by deadline day.
