(Greek Creature) CYCLOPES

Giant one eyed sons of Uranus and Gaia (Sky and Earth)

The original hard as nails Titan monster trio were Brontes, Steropes and Arges, masters of the forge and helpers of Haphaestus.

Uranus was never a big fan of competition and was so terrified by the size and strength of the Cyclopes and their stormy brothers the Hecatonchires that as soon as they were born he rammed them straight back into the bowels of the earth goddess via the tradesmans entrance.

Cronus later performed a cosmic Enema and released the giants to help dethrone Uranus, which had Gaia breathing a sigh of relief, but the comfort was short lived as they went straight back in along with a dragon-guard called Campe once they had done his donkey work.

A ten year royal rumble raged as the gods tried to see off the Titans with neither side gaining a foothold until Gaia suggested Zeus could do a lot worse than release the Cyclopes and Hecatonchires to help out. As well as relieving her rumble-tums the Cyclopes fashioned some spangly thunderbolts under the tutellage of Haphaestus, with Arges adding brightness, Brontes thunder, and Steropes lightning, and also whipped up Poseidon's trident, Artemis' bow and Hades helmet of invisibility to help the Gods defeat the Titans. Hurrah!

Rumour has it Hephaestus had seven Cyclopes helpers but four of them may have been killed by Apollo, a bit of tit-for-tat after Asclepius found himself on the wrong end of a thunderbolt.
