Pronunciation : GRAY-AY

(Greek Deity) GRAEAE

Also known as GRAIAI, GRAIAE, GRAII, THE GREY ONES, THE OLD ONES

Daughters of Phorcys and Ceto, sisters of Scylla, the Gorgons and Sirens. Rumour has it they sometimes appeared as swans which goes against the grey-n a bit.

Deino "dread", Enyo "horror" and Pemphredo "alarm" were three ancient crones, born old with skanky grey hair and only one tooth and a single eye that they passed between them, but they had an eye less when Perseus popped by.

At the advice of Hermes he arrived at Styx - home of the Graeae, and took the eye hostage as they passed it around. The ransom was the whereabouts of the Stygian Nymphs so he could gather his tools for taking down Medusa - Zeus's sword, Athena's shield and Hades' helmet.

Graeae could be personifications of sea foam.
