God of the Greek underworld, son of Cronus and Rhea.

After smacking the Titans, the family heirlooms were up for grabs and brothers Zeus and Poseidon nobbled the land and sea respectively which left Hades with the underworld whether he liked it or not.

"Oh go on, don't be such a misery guts, we'll name it after you and everything!"

Being God of the underworld generally brings shed loads of bad press, but Hades was quite an affable chap as long as you treated him with a bit of respect. He didn't expect human sacrifice, wouldn't stand for flayed corpses cluttering up his domain and certainly would not partake of a heart burger, but thanks for asking! Nor was he a serial sex offender like his brothers though he did kidknapp Persephone and trick her into marriage with a few pomegranate seeds and had a little fling with someone who is now a mint plant (Minthe)... and a Poplar tree (Leuce).

Hades crib was a bit dark and damp but seemed to be a popular place for visits with heroes such as Heracles, Odysseus, Psyche, Aeneasl, Orpheus, Theseus and Pirithoüs all popping down there to rescue buddies or chat to the deceased after outsmarting the three-headed guard dog Cerberus.

He owned the famous helmet of invisibility, made by the Cyclopes, which came in very handy the night he snuck over to the Titan's camp and primed them for defeat by stealing all of their weapons, and has been known to loan it out to people he deemed worthy if they asked nicely.

Mankind feared him greatly and the Gods snubbed him because of the whole underworld thing but he just liked to keep his house in order and the dead to stay dead when they arrived at his home via The Styx. And besides, Hades wasn't death - death was Thanatos and he was a nasty piece of work.
