(Olympian) HESTIA

Greek Goddess of : The Hearth, Domestic Life
Attributes :
Festival Days :
When in Rome : Vesta

Sister of Zeus. Hestia was the housewife of Olympus, and one of the most rarest of breeds... a virgin.

While everyone else was out monster bashing, stirring up wars and basically behaving like swines, Hestia took great pleasure from staying on Olympus to bake cookies, iron togas, keep the home fires burning (literally) and all the other things you would expect from a motherly keep yourself to yourself type. But it didn't stop horny god-stud wannabes from trying to get her into the sack.

Apollo and Poseidon both had forbidden fruit syndrome and chased poor old Hestia all over the place, which is enough to put anyone off, so she swore never to get involved with any man and asked Zeus to keep the riff-raff off her back, so to speak.

This was music to the top gods ears. If she wasn't married she couldn't have an affair, and no affair meant no trouble. Zeus had enough on his plate trying to fight off hostile takeovers, chasing the fairer sex himself and trying to keep it all from his insane wife.

Along with Athena and Artemis, Hestia was one of only three beings in the entire universe that were completely immune to Aphrodites womanly charms, which was probably as much to do with the iron clad vows of chastidy they had in place rather than personal taste - but the love goddess did take rejection from anyone very personally.

Rumour has it Hestia gave up her place at Olympus to make room for Dionysus at the gods table. But she didn't mind because all of the heavenly squabbles were doing her head in anyway.
