Introduction ...

Never ones to let the truth get in the way of a good yarn, the Greeks were spreading stories of the Gods long before the introduction of a writing system. Their beliefs had no formal structure with the exception of various festivals held in honor of the gods, no sacred book or code of conduct to live by, so they just made it up as they went a long.

Word of mouth was order of the day with roughly four centuries of embelishment, exageration and downright fibs as bits and bobs were bolted on to explain the most unexplainable occurances, and although early toffs such as Plato tried to convince the public that Ancient Greek mythology was, well, Greek by comparison, they couldn't give a hoot.

Many believe that creation began with Gaia, but there were lots of movers and shakers long before mother earth. Unfortunately most of them were locked away in 'the mysteries', basically because their profound wisdom was thought too deep for commoners to grasp, and they probably had a point.

From Uranus onwards the Gods were remarkably human-like and while undoubtedly physically strong were mentally weak, especially when it came to the opposite sex, and were providing excuses for the men-folks wayward ways by the bucket load...

"So i slept with your sister. Whats your problem woman?
If it's good enough for Zeus 'tis good enough for me!"

If you're looking for a rip-snorting, monster bashing, handbag throwing, booze fuelled, tragedy, love story filled the kind of stuff illegal outside of Holland and anything can happen next you've picked the right Pantheon.

The Gods are the stars of the show. They're depraved, mentally unstable, tough as nuts, moody and fickle but also loyal, often generous, sometimes forgiving, and always entertaining.
Every character fully deserves an oscar.

Enjoy!
