(Greek Mortal) MEDEA

The sorceress daughter of King Aeetes of Colchis.

Arriving at Colchis after a most taxing journey Jason and his argonauts were dismayed to discover that King Aeetes wasn't particularly keen on giving up his golden fleece and set a series of riduculous labours for the heroic captain of the Argo.

Fortunately his daughter, Medea, was smitten and being well versed in the art of witchcraft gladly gave Jason some handy pointers on how to succesfully yoke a pair of fire breathing brass bulls and slay an army of sprouting dragon's teeth warriors in exchange for an exclusive relationship and a honeymoon in Greece.

Having grabbed the fleece Medea also grabbed Apsyrtus, her brother, then chopped him up and tossed him into the sea. As the king stopped to pick up the pieces the Argonauts were given a window of opportunity just big enough to make their escape.

Arriving back in greece to find his parents dead at the hands of Uncle Pelias, Medea performed her magical re-animation trick as part of a cunning retribution plot. Boiling an old sheep until a frisky young lamb jumped from the pot convinced Alcestis and her sisters that their ageing dad could benefit from a little boiling himself. They gave him a powerful sleeping pill and cut him into pieces as Medea and Jason fled to Corinth without telling them the spell for putting him back together.

Having settled down they had two kids and everything was going swimmingly until Jason fell in love with the daughter of King Creon of Corinth. In revenge, Medea killed her rival with a poisoned robe and just to make sure no harm would make its way to her sons via the wrathful king she killed them too, which seems a bit selfish.

Fleeing to Athens where she took a job at the court of King Aegeus she accidently discovered he was the father of Theseus who, by an enormous coincidence, had just rolled into town. Medea had a good thing going in Crete and had no intentions of letting a young hero rock the boat so she convinced Aegeus that the new arrival was a threat to his throne, a grand banquet was organised, invitations were sent and goblets labelled 'Theseus' were filled with poison.

Luckily Theseus revealed his true identity, Medea was rumbled, the poison was dashed to the ground and Medea escaped to Asia where she hasn't been seen or heard from since. But i bet she's up to no good.
