(Greek Deity) POSEIDON

Also known as ENOSICHTHON
In a nutshell ...
Greek God of : The Sea, Horses and Earthquakes
Attributes : Trident, Horse
Festival Days :
When in Rome : Neptune

Son of Cronus and Rhea. Moody Greek god of the sea, horses and earthquakes.

When the gods defeated the Titans, brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon split the cosmos between them, with Poseidon taking over the wet side of things.

Problem is, the great bearded one also thought he should rule over anything that relied on water to sustain it so was constantly battling other gods for land rights. Even when the gods sought judgement from Olympus the hyper arrogant Poseidon wouldn't listen to reason. He flooded the earth, dried up rivers then retired to his palace beneath the ocean to sulk, popping up now and then to cause dirty big tidal waves and prod the clouds with his trident to release torrential rain falls to ravage the land.

All of the Greek top gods had a problem keeping their twig and berries under control and Poseidon was no different even though he was married to Amphritrite. There was no level he wouldn't stoop to to nail the fairer sex. All's fair in lust and war and its a testament to sea airs mojo boosting properties that he fathered Theseus, the hero twins Pelias and Neleus, Triton, Polyphemus, Eumolpus, Sinis, Proteus, Agenor, Chrysaor, Pegasus and Busiris, and may have been involved in the conception of the Aloadae twins.

He didn't think twice about stooping way below seedy un-God-like level for flings and fleeting moments with Tyro, Alope, Amymone, and Caeneus, and even persued Demeter who turned herself into a mare to avoid the horny old sea Gods advances. Did this ploy work? Of course not! Poseidon simply took the form of a stallion and nailed her too! Arion and Despoena were the results.

He was also responsible for Medusa's turn for the worse after ravishing her in Athena's temple- his mother, Rhea, must be so proud!
