Greek | Creature TALOS

The giant bronze guard created by Haphaestus. A single vein running the length of his body gave him his life-force, and a pin-plug on his foot kept it in.

Plonked on Crete to protect Europa and her three sons who had arrived via the most amazing bull ride ever, the job of Talos was pretty simple - circle the Island thrice daily and chuck dirty great boulders at anyone who get too close. It was a brainless job, which is just as well because Talos didn't have one, but on the plus side no brain meant he would simply follow instructions and that was a luxury old Zeus could get used to.

One day Jason rocked up with his fleecing Argonauts and weren't at all intimidated by Talos's deadly fast spin. Medea stood defiantly on the Argo's deck and sang and played her heart out and her tuneful melodies put Talos to sleep for the first time ever. And also the last time ever.

As he was snoozing Medea removed the pin which pulled the plug on the bronze sentinel's lifeforce and rendered him nothing more than a pile of scrap metal. And to add insult to injury she kept the pin to tie up her hair.
