AGASTYA

The Great Hindu Sage, born of Mitra, Varuna and Urvasi.

Being born of two fathers would be impossible in any religion but hinduism, especially when no hanky-panky is involved, but one night Mitra and Varuna were so turned on by Urvasi's sensual dancing that they both, ahem, secreted their excitement juice. Someone, and i have no wish to discover who, gathered up the mess and put it into a jar, and so Agastya became the first test tube baby.

He was a dab-hand at removing earth threatening obstacles, though his most famous feat was more downright cheek than divine power, and when a mountain range grew so tall that it began to block out the suns life bringing rays he begged it to shrink so he could pass and stay shrunk until he returned. The mountain range duly obliged and a grinning Agastya passed through then set off on the return journey home via a completely different route.

He had a nasty habit of devouring anything that offended him and once drank the entire primordial ocean because he suspected demons - who he liked to round up and lock away - were hiding in it.

Agastya gave Rama the weapon that he used to kill Ravana - a huge arrow tipped with fire and sunlight that weighed more than Mount Meru. It originally belonged to Shiva as did the bow needed to fire it, but I have no idea how a humble Sage came to posess such an awesome weapon.
