BALARAMA

Also known as BALRAMA

Balarama was the seventh son of Devaki, and Krishna's big brother, big on honesty and self control. Many think of him as the ideal man.

Kamsa went loco after a prophecy warned him to be wary of his cousins sons but having already lost six of them Devaki flew right in the face of common sense and got herself pregnant with number seven and number eight.

This was pretty serious stuff, and in hindsight she should probably have used some form of contraceptive, but as it happens it was completely out of her hands. A demon king was running riot and as Indra begged for a higher divine intervention Vishnu plucked a white hair from his head and prodded Devaki right into pregnancy.

The foetus of Balarama was subjected to a cosmic womb transplant as it was switched from Devaki and Balarama was born to Rohini. I'd like to think Dhanwantari was involved in some way as you can't just be whipping out wombs willy-nilly without some kind of sound medical background.

In keeping with top secret switcheroos her eighth born, Krishna, was adopted by Yasoda and Nanda with their daughter going the other way. This would lull Kamsa into a false sense of security as he had nothing to fear from a daughter of Devaki.

Despite his reputation as a pretty decent bloke, albeit with the power to crush opponents so hard that their hearts explode, Balarama was killed during a drunkun bar brawl with the Yadavas. Even ideal men have their bad days.
