(Hindu Deity)SHIVA

Also known as SHIV, SIV, SIVA
Attributes : Coming soon ...
Festival days : Shivaratri
Vahana (Vehicle) : Nandi (Bull)

One of the Hindu Trimurti of biggy Gods along with Brahma the creator and Vishnu the maintainer.

Shiva looks after the destruction side of things and if he starts to bang his drum and do the dance of destruction you are in big trouble my friend.

As the destroyer having eight arms helps, especially if each one is holding a rather nasty weapon, and he has three eyes too but it's the one in the forehead you should avoid at all costs. Very bad things happen if it opens and gives you an evil stare ... as Kama discovered. Okay, he disturbed Shiva's deep meditation, but it's still a nasty way to go.

Shiva has been known to hang around cemetries with snakes around his head and human skulls on a necklace, which didn't stand him in good stead with Daksha, the father of his wife to be, nor did the fact he socialised with demons and imps.

He can be both majestic and terrifying but is a lot less scary since Parvati took him in hand. After cutting Ganesha's head off she decided that he had to be domesticated. You just can't do that to your own son, even if you fix him with an elephants head. Karttikeya was a chip off the old block and ousted Indra as God of war.

Five is Shiva's sacred number - he has five faces, or aspects, and they combine to be the cause of all that exists. Even the biggy Gods worship him. Shiva is associated with an older Vedic God and sometimes referred to by this name... Rudra.
