VARAHA

The third avatar of Vishnu.

Taking the form of a wild boar seemed like the sensible thing to do when Hiranyaksha and his hoard of demonic Daityas had stolen the earth and dragged it to the bottom of the cosmic ocean.

Apparently tusks are just the job for scooping up sunken planets and make perfect cradles for carryng them back to their proper place.

But why a boar? They're not particularly strong swimmers and only have tiny little tusks. Why not an elephant? They love the wet stuff, have had more blessings in the ivory department, and are bigger and stronger to boot. I bet if he had changed into an elephant it wouldn't have taken him a thousand years to get the job done either.

I can't help but think old Vishnu missed a trick here, but what do i know?

Anyway, his impressive aquatic fancy-danning ensured girls everywhre went weak at the knees and it wasn't long before he was married to Bhu-devi.
