In a nutshell ...
God of :
Religion : Shinto
Attributes : coming soon ...

Second deity dispatched by the heavenly council to subdue the Central Land of the Reed Plains.

The Gods were concerned by the state of the earth. If the humans weren't starting wars they were partying like animals. Something had to be done.

Their first saviour to be, Ame-no-Oshido-Mimi, got as far as the sacred bridge of heaven before he decided there was no way he was going to cross the nasty mortals. Ame-no-Hohi was sent next and at least made it to earth, but was never heard from again. Neither was Miku-manoushi who was sent to find him.

So, it was left to Ama-Waka-Hiko to go and sort the mess out. He was the bravest warrior and armed with a sacred bow and arrows, surely he would whip the humans into shape, right?

Well, no, actually. As soon as he descended to earth he was seduced by mortal attractions, and in no time at all was shacked up with the alluring Shita-Teru-Hime, daughter of Okuninushi.
How ironic that Okuninushi had unwittingly caused the mess in the first place, being too busy running around the land zapping demons to even notice that the humans were becoming little monsters themselves.

Eight years passed and the Gods handed the task of finding out what the hell was going on to a pheasant called Nakime. They must have been desperate! Landing outside of Ama-waka-Hiko's home put the fear of God into his new wife who thought pheasants were bringers of the worst kind of luck, so the protective husband sent it straight back to heaven on the end of his magic arrow where it landed right at the feet of Takami-musubi, stone dead. What are the chances?

As it turns out, Takami-musubi was a pretty good shot himself and when he flung the arrow back towards earth with instructions to nail the impure, it hit Ama-wako-Hiko right in the chest and Amenosagume became the earths newest widow.
