Visiting Asgard Gullveig talked about nothing but gold. 'Gold' this, 'Gold' that, 'Gold' the other, there's only so much gild-talk a god can take. Coming to the conclusion that the world would be a better place without her she was stabbed with the nastiest weapons then thrown on the fire... three times, courtesy of Asgards finest. Imagine their suprise when she just got up and walked home.

Back in Vanaheim the Vanir weren't best pleased. Sure, Gullveig was completely blister and burn-free because of her powerful magic but it was the intent they were upset about and a ten year battle raged.

Given her lust for gold, newbies often confuse Gullveig with the saucy sorceress of Asgard, Freyja, who was more than a little gold-obsessed herself, a theory that would have the ancients up in arms. And besides, she rules the dark forest at the end of the world, thought to be Iron Wood, which would make Gullveig none other than Angrboda, and open up a whole new can of worms.
