(Norse Deity)JORD

Also known as ERDA, FJORGN, JORTH, HLOGYN
In a nutshell ...
Norse Goddess of : The Wilderness, Primitive Earth
Hall : Unknown
Mount : Unknown

Goddess of the wilderness and primitive Earth. Jord claims to be Mrs Odin, the mother of Thor and Frigg.

Sometimes described as the rival of Frigg, Rindr and Gunnlodd, who have all had children by Odin, Jord is certainly the mother of all Norse confusion -- in a family tree kind of way.

Apparently her father was Annar, but Jord was the earth personified and Odin created it. If Annar is one of Odins twenty zillion aliases it would mean he had married his own daughter, another 'keep it in the family' marriage that the Norse Gods seemed so fond of. Nothing strange there.

But this leads to all kinds of twists and turns. Her mother was Nott and Nott's father was Narvi, presumably the same Narvi who is the son of Loki. You see where this is going?

If indeed Annar was really Odin, and he was in fact married to Nott this would make Narvi his father in law, and through marriage... Loki would be Odins grandfather. What a shocker!

There's nothing as confusing as family relationships via marriage. Of course, there could be two Narvi's, and if there is ignore everything i just wrote!

Meet the family ...
Parents : coming soon ...
Spouse : Odin (possibly!)
Offspring : Thor and Frigg
