On the way to visit Skymir, Thor and Loki stopped at the house of a peasant called Egil to seek lodgings for the night.

Thor slaugtered Tooth Gnasher and Tooth grinder as he had done countless times and threw them in a pot. He invited the peasant and his wife and children to dine with him on the condition that they treated the bones with care and placed them on the goat hide when they had been stripped of meat. After supper Thor wrapped the bones and dozed off.

When he waved Mjollnir over the neatly wrapped bundle next morning he noticed one of his goats was lame in one leg.
It turns out Thialfi couldn't resist breaking one of the bones to suck out the marrow after everyone had gone to sleep, and he was lucky that Thor didn't break his head!

The magical goats can't be put back together properly if any of the bones have been broken or damaged and a furious Thor was eventually placated when Egil offered his children Thialfi and Roskva as his servants. Thialfi is now Thors trusty rustic man servant and no slouch with wit or weapon.

During the Hrungnir episode Thialfi tricked the giant into standing on his huge stone shield, paving the way for a full head on assault, by telling him Thor will attack from beneath. He also beats down the clay giant known as Mist Calf, and rumour has it during the course of this epic battle one of the four piss their pants! Some say it was Thor but i can't see it. Can you?
